Sam Clark ~ A Connection to the Lewis and Clark Expedition!

young Sam

~ Sam Clark ~

older Clark        Linda Eggleston McBROOM has sent several photos of Sam CLARK of Hayward, Wisconsin, along with an old letter from 1968 wherein Sam writes of his ancestry. He relates that his great grandfather, Robert CLARK had a brother, John, who was the father of William CLARK of the Lewis and Clark Expedition, as well as George Rodgers CLARK, another famous explorer of the times.

At the time of the writing of this letter (April 10, 1968), Sam CLARK was 86 years old and in good health. It would be wonderful if this letter and the several photos included could be re-united with descendants of Sam CLARK. As another clue, the letter was written to Ruth Clark BACON, who Sam calls his cousin. Ruth lived in Tacoma Washington in 1968.

In the photograph on the right, Sam CLARK is on the left and his friend, Jim SCHIRERLY is on the right wearing the cap.
