ST. ELIZABETH GOSPEL CHOIR
The St. Elizabeth Gospel Choir came into
being in 1977 through the efforts of Fr. Mike Schmied, our pastor at that
time. He wanted the sweet spirit of gospel music to add cultural
richness to our Eucharistic Celebrations. Fr. Mike approached Brenda
Foster to ask that a gospel choir be formed under the direction of her
husband, Ed Foster. Since that time, there have been other pianists
and directors. Several of our choir members can date their
participation to those early days. In fact, Kim Ford, our assistant
directress, has been a member of the choir since she was a teenager.
In 1991, the Reverend Rita
Newson joined us as Director and Musician. Through her ministry of
music, Reverend Rita guided and nurtured us with her loving and
spirit-filled gifts. She was a blessing to us and we in turn,
cherished her.
Since Reverend Rita's departure in early 2008, we have been graced with
the presence of Scott Stell, an accomplished pianist, who has assisted
the choir during this transitional period.

Praise his holy name..."
