Mrs. Helen M. Smith

       I have two digital photographs of Mrs. Helen M. Smith. One is the beautiful memorial card that was distributed at her death in 1903. Helen Smith was born Helen Maria Chase in Dennis, Mass in 1847. She died in 1903. She married twice. The photographs is Helen during her second marriage, to David S. Smith.

       The memorial card was a purchase of mine from EBay. It is beautiful. It depicts the open Bible with Helen's date of death and her age inscribed thereon. There is a poem below the Bible. I wrote the seller that I intended to place this memorial card on this website and he kindly sent the digital photo of Helen, as well as some genealogy information about Helen and her family.

       The poem reads:

We miss thee from our home, mother,
We miss thee from thy place,
A shadow o'er our life is cast,
We miss the sunshine of thy face,
We miss thy kind and willing hand,
Thy fond and earnest care,
Our home is dark without thee,
We miss thee everywhere.
